Lenten Practices

Since it’s almost “that time of year” again:

What Lenten practices do you keep to that you’d like to share about? Do you mainly practice Lenten disciplines on Fridays or on each day of Lent?

Also, what types of parish programs do you think are helpful during Lent? I know some prefer weeknight Christian education programs, while others prefer practices such as the Litany or Stations of the Cross on Fridays.

Please feel free to share.

  1. I give up all beverages except water. No wine, no ginger ale, just water for the entire period. Ghastly stuff, water.

    • Kelso, I do the same thing. I only drink tap water and then donate 10 cents for every glass I drink during Lent to a non-profit that helps provide clean water.

  2. “Ghastly stuff, water.”

I can understand that….especially if your local tap water’s anything like mine 🙂

Sometimes I think the “best” Lenten disciplines are fairly simple ones.
