Remembering 9/11

I think we all distinctly remember where we were that day. One of the things I remember most closely was tuning in to the news right after the Pentagon had been hit, and wondering if anywhere was safe. I was living in Houston at the time, and it seemed like everyone there was on edge for days afterwards.

We must remember the events of that day, not be hateful or vengeful, but as a reminder of what hate can do. Thousands lost their lives needlessly that day. Let’s remember them and strive to honor their memories in the best way possible.

Father of all, we pray to you for the victims of 9/11, and for all those whom we love but see no longer. Grant to them eternal rest. Let light perpetual shine upon them. May their souls and the souls of all the departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace.
Amen.
(1979 Book of Common Prayer)
