Praying for Prisoners

I think a lot of us who live in free countries often take religious liberties for granted. In many parts of the world, Christians have to contend with being members of the “wrong” denomination according to the local government, being accused of being troublemakers and being driven out of their homes, and even being imprisoned.

Let’s take time to give thanks for the liberties we enjoy, and pray for those who don’t enjoy such freedom. Also, let’s pray for the persecutors, that their hearts may be turned and they may may know God’s grace and mercy.

This prayer, shared on the Trust, Live Serve blog, was written by Dietrich Bohnhoeffer while he was imprisoned by the Nazis. I think it’s a good prayer that helps put things into perspective. Read it here
