Friday Prayer Requests (Feast of St. Matthew the Apostle)

Prayers are from the 1979 Book of Common Prayer

In peace, let us pray to the Lord, saying, “Lord, have mercy”
(or “Kyrie eleison”).

For the holy Church of God, that it may be filled with truth and love, and be found without fault at the day of your coming, we pray to you, O Lord.

In the Anglican Cycle of Prayer, we pray for Gwagwalada – (Abuja, Nigeria) The Rt Revd Tanimu Aduda; Haiti – (II, The Episcopal Church) The Rt Revd Jean Duracin and Suffragan Bishop of Haiti – (II, The Episcopal Church) The Rt Revd Oge Beauvoir; Hanuato’o – (Melanesia) The Rt Revd Alfred Karibongi 

For Katherine our Presiding Bishop, for Scott our own Bishop(s), for all bishops and other ministers, and for all the holy people of God, we pray to you, O Lord.

We pray for Whosever Prays.

For all who fear God and believe in you, Lord Christ, that our divisions may cease, and that all may be one as you and the Father are one, we pray to you, O Lord.

We pray for our friends in Christ in the Patriarchal Exarchate for Orthodox Parishes of Russian Tradition in Western Europe; Greek Orthodox Church of Alexandria; Greek Orthodox Church of Antioch and Antiochian Orthodox Christian Archdiocese of North America

For the mission of the Church, that in faithful witness it may preach the Gospel to the ends of the earth, we pray to you, O Lord.

Pastor Leo requests prayer as he conducts home Bible studies.

Christ Church City Kidz is having an outreach event Saturday, please pray.

For those who do not yet believe, and for those who have lost their faith, that they may receive the light of the Gospel, we pray to you, O Lord.

We pray for Scott, who needs guidance in finding and staying in an orthodox church.

For the peace of the world, that a spirit of respect and forbearance may grow among nations and peoples, we pray to you, O Lord.

We pray for the people of  China,  Hong Kong and Macau.

For those in positions of public trust, that they may serve justice, and promote the dignity and freedom of every person, we pray to you, O Lord.

For a blessing upon all human labor, and for the right use of the riches of creation, that the world may be freed from poverty, famine, and disaster, we pray to you, O Lord.

For the poor, the persecuted, the sick, and all who suffer; for refugees, prisoners, and all who are in danger; that they may be relieved and protected, we pray to you, O Lord.

Marilyn has anxiety and depression, as well as pain from an unknown cause, and is maybe being stalked, please pray.

Louis has been deployed to Libya, prayers for protection are appreciated.


Pat is in need of a place to live, as her board & care is being turned into a hotel. Please pray.

Beverly is still coping with a tough depression, please pray.

For those who are present, and for those who are absent, that we may be delivered from hardness of heart, and show forth your glory in all that we do, we pray to you, O Lord.

For our enemies and those who wish us harm, and for all whom we have injured or offended, we pray to you, O Lord.

For ourselves; for the forgiveness of our sins, and for the grace of the Holy Spirit to amend our lives, we pray to you, O Lord.

For all who have commended themselves to our prayers; for our families, friends, and neighbors; that being freed from anxiety, they may live in joy, peace, and health, we pray to you, O Lord.

Doctors have been unable to find out why Betty is losing blood, because the test drives up her blood pressure, please pray.


Please pray for Pam, who needs a kidney transplant and is feeling worn out.

Steve Raleigh has a brain tumor that’s come back, please pray.

Please pray for Kelly for healing.

Eleanor was readmitted to a care facility, please pray.

Myra is having extreme joint pain in her hands, please pray.

Terri is in the hospital on life support, please pray for husband steve and son Keith, who is handicapped.

Kay has received news that her disabled daughter, Amanda is failing quickly, please pray.

For all who have died in the communion of your Church, and those whose faith is known to you alone, that, with all the saints, they may have rest in that place where there is no pain or grief, but life eternal, we pray to you, O Lord.

Rejoicing in the fellowship of the ever-blessed Virgin Mary, Theodore of Tarsus, John Coleridge Patteson and Companions, St. Matthew and all the saints, let us commend ourselves, and one another, and all our life to Christ our God. To you, O Lord our God.

We thank you, heavenly Father, for the witness of your apostle and evangelist Matthew to the Gospel of your Son our Savior; and we pray that, after his example, we may with ready wills and hearts obey the calling of our Lord to follow him; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you
and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.
